Reflections on Rejections

Reflections on Rejections is a collection of rejection letters received by Harvard University deans, faculty, students, and alums, along with their brief reflections on what the rejection meant to them, and their thoughts about the meanings of success and failure.  The rejection letters are kind, cruel, or just form letters, but all Reflections on Rejections contributors were courageous enough to share their letters and their insights.

The collection was originally produced in preparation for a panel event that took place on April 15, 2009.  The panel was sponsored by the Bureau of Study Counsel and the Office of Career Services. The panel consisted of several contributors to the Reflections on Rejections collection who shared their own experiences of success and failure, risk, rejection and redemption, and then opened up a spirited discussion with the audience of Harvard students.  Attendees received a booklet of the entire Reflections on Rejections collection.

In response to the panel event, new contributions have come in to the Reflections on Rejections collection, and a new edition of the booklet is being planned for 2010 as well as a new panel event.  If you are affiliated with Harvard, and would like to contribute a rejection letter and your reflections about success and failure, you are invited to participate.  Click on the form to the left
