Favorite Failures, Sorry Successes, and Other Observations

People often report learning more from failure than from success.  Our most important and meaningful
experiences tend to result from obstacles overcome, confusions endured, pains withstood, risks taken, rather
than from clear goals, smooth sailing, and predictable rewards.  These are the experiences that lead us to
redefine our very definitions of "success" and "failure."

Below are some personal stories and observations of students, alums, faculty, deans, and others at the
University.  Some of the stories on this page could be titled "My Favorite Failure" and some "My Sorry Success."
All of them invite us to consider and reconsider our notions of success and failure.
